Waxing 101
What is a Brazilian Wax?
Brazilian Waxing is the removal of unwanted hair in genital area, can range from inner thigh bikini line to full removal of pubic hair. It is removed with application of hot wax and stripped away with piece of cloth.
History of BBW in the USA:
Thanks to the popularity of waxing among models such as Naomi Campbell and actresses such as Gweneth Paltrow, BBW has spread in salons and spas across the United States. Bikini wax is the hair removal with wax of the inner thigh and pubic hair region. The name derives from the infamous Brazilian Bikini: Brazilians have been doing this for along time now and the objective was that no hair be seen.
What to expect before your appointment:
What you should know before your appointment!
- Check the place out: Don't be afraid to ask questions, get all your doubts out of the way and go somewhere recommended. Talk to your friends and see what they say.
- If you are weak for pain; some salons suggest taking tylenol 1hour before your appointment.
- You should NOT have any lotion or perfume on. This can cause irritation.
- Getting it done for a big event: Like anything else don't get it done on that day but a few days before because it can get red at first but will go a way. This will give you more time to become used to it yourself.
- Take a shower: Don't wake up and go to the salon without taking a shower or go from some other place where you can't wash yourself. Sounds like common sense? You would be surprised with the stories I have heard. Avoid embarrassments; clean yourself thoroughly because you will be very bare.
- Avoid getting it done while you have your period. First because it hurts more and if you are getting BBW its not feasible.
- Avoid direct sun exposure, tanning beds and sun lamps for 24 hours prior to the service.
- Avoid caffeine beverages and alcohol for, at least, 3 hours prior to the service.
- Avoid aggressive skin exfoliation products for, at least, 3 days prior to the service.
- Do not shave or use depilatory products for 2 or more weeks prior to the service.
- Trim superfluous hair with scissors or a clipper to, at least, ¼ - ¾ inch long.
- Do not apply oils or body lotion to the treatment area before the service
